Well, fall is upon us in the Rockies and winter won't be far behind. Many of the golf courses in the mountains will be closing soon. But, just because the USGA doesn't allow you to submit handicaps after the middle of October, it doesn't mean the golf season is over. Denver and the Front Range have a lot of good golf days all winter.
I have met so many golfers that put their clubs away for the winter, only to find that the following Spring, all of the progress they had mad during the previous season is gone. Winter practice is the best way to maintain your game. Or at least some of it.
Winter is also a good time to get minor club repairs done. Clubs need to be regripped at least once a year to maintain their level of playability. You may re-grip more often depending on how often you play.
It is also a good time to get your swing and set makeup analyzed. Sit down with a clubmaker and talk about what is ailing your game. Get re-fit. If you are new to the game or just getting a little older, those shafts you are playing with might not be cutting it anymore.
If you are a junior golfer that has grown a few more inches, you might want to get the length checked out as well.
Remember, regripping and reshafting are cheaper than buying a whole new set of clubs.
